Otter fur quivers are associated with the Apsáalooke (Crow) and Nimi´ipuu (Nez Perce) tribes, who enjoyed friendly relations as trading partners. While used by Nimi´ipuu, this quiver may have been made by, and traded from, the Apsáalooke, as Apsáalooke beadwork is noted for its richness of color and beautifully balanced color schemes.
